I’m thrilled, especially with my ongoing ecological art forest work at Hollywood Forest, that poet Grace Wells and I will be co-facilitating an art and ecology afternoon for creatives working in all fields on
‘The Need for Ecoliteracy in our era of Environmental Challenge’

2 pm Sunday 9th July
Please note the change of venue: now at Hometree HQ, on the Hometree site
as part of the wonderful 2nd Hometree.ie Ardnaculla Summer School Co. Clare.
As Grace and I have recently worked together on an Earth-aligned ‘Vision, Values and Voice’ 3-day workshop for writers and poets in Co. Tipperary, we’re delighted to be hosting more conversations with creatives who are increasingly turning to engage with the ecological (the interconnected environmental and social) challenges of these urgent times. Grace is living near the Hometree HQ and has been very involved in contributing to Hometree’s wonderful publications and facilitating conversations at Hometree’s very successful first Summer School.

Hometree has been pioneering a significant community-led forest restoration following Close-to-Nature continuous cover forest practices in Co. Clare, and also in Connemara and my colleague from Pro Silva Ireland, forester and ecologist Manus Crowley is also a forest advisor for Hometree.
I’m so honoured and excited to be taking part and looking forward to the Summer School. I was at the first Summer school last year (see the videos below) and I found it so restorative, inspiring, friendly, heart and soul-warming as so many who gather around Hometree are promoting wiser ways of living well with the community of life, for collective, planetary and intergenerational wellbeing. I will be sharing insights from my ongoing ecological creative practice The Hollywood Forest Story and also my experience in delivering ecoliteracy and Earth Charter values education to now over mid-career 250 creatives and cultural professionals, since 2019 at Haumea Ecoversity.
All Welcome ! (Scroll to the bottom of the Eventbrite page to see this event)

An overview of the first summer school:
It was such a treat to meet with the inspirational founder Alan Watson Featherstone of Trees for Life Scotland at the summer school last year – his work has long inspired me and so many others in re-thinking forestry.
And also to listen to and share time with the recovering landscape architect, Chelsea Gold Medal Award winner, and inspiring rewilder and writer Mary Reynolds’ of the Irish-led international ‘We Are the Ark’ movement too.
