On 8 April 2024, the Founder of Haumea Ecoversity, ecological artist-educator-researcher, Cathy Fitzgerald, shared how she slowly developed her ongoing creative ecoart practice The Hollywood Forest Story & her more recent endeavours on a creative entrepreneurial journey to develop Haumea Ecoversity. This was one of a ‘series of talks and podcasts, hosted by curator Sarah Searson, focusing on Artists as Cultural Leaders developed by Roscommon Arts Office and supported by Creative Ireland.’
‘The series looks at energy and care brought to places and people through contemporary art, curatorial approaches, cultural programming and its connection to community. Through a series of presentations, discussions by contemporary practitioners share visual arts skills & strategies in the evolving landscape of visual and artistic leadership.’ Other podcasts included conversations with Kate Strain and Jennie Moran.

Ireland, the home of my ancestors, these past 25 years. Since 2019, I have offered ecoliteracy training to 350+ creative professionals in Ireland and internationally.

In 2022, Cathy was nominated by Earth Charter International, UNESCO Chair for ESD as Earth Charter Focal Point Communicator for Ireland.
*ESD is the UN-mandated shift in global formal and lifelong learning toward Education for Sustainable Development
